Jimmy McCracklin is without question one of the most important figures in the history of rhythm and blues. This album, as conceived and produced by Ron Levy, was put together as an All-Star West Coast blues album: a funky, down-home session highlighted by numerous guests, including Johnny Otis and Bobby Forte. Barbara Lynn performs a soulful duet with Jimmy on 'Yesterday Is Gone'; Smokey Wilson, Larry Davis, and Lowell Fulson all pitch in on vocals on 'Help the Bear.'
