The first time I ever heard the Cox Family, I was riding through New Orleans in the back of a chop-top Cadillac at about three in the morning. Buck Owens was finishing `Above and Beyond' on the tape deck and the next song was about as beautiful a piece of country music as I'd heard in years. We arrived at the bar we were looking for just as the song ended. My friends went inside to see the band, but I stayed in the car to listen to the rest of the tape.
