Known alternately as "Miss Rhythm" and "the girl with the tear in her voice," Ruth Brown was the top-selling black female recording artist in America between 1951 and '54. She kept a relatively low profile during the Sixties and early Seventies, however, and finally reemerged as an actress on stage and television, and in the motion pictures Under the Rainbow and Hairspray. Have a Good Time, cut during a 1988 engagement at the Cinegrill in Hollywood, marked Brown's return to prominence on record. The album finds one of America's most distinctive song stylists at the top of her game, applying her highly emotive chops to a set of good-time standards, exquisitely tender ballads, and blues tunes rocked the way only she can rock 'em.

Gee Baby, Ain't I Good to You; You Won't Let Me Go, 5-10-15 Hours, Have a Good Time, Teardrops from My Eyes, Always on My Mind; Yes Sir, That's My Baby; When I Fall in Love, (Mama) He Treats Your Daughter Mean, plus CD bonus track What a Wonderful World
