Coteau is French for 'high ground' among Cajuns of Louisiana's bayou country. It's also the name of the Cajun rock group that brought young people back to the dancehalls during the Louisiana French cultural renaissance of the 1970s. They did it by combining traditional accordion and fiddle with high-energy twin-lead guitars. Called the 'Cajun Grateful Dead' by some, Coteau fused Cajun music, Southern rock, blues, reggae, country and jazz into an organic sound that has yet to be equaled and remains fresh and different to this day. They reunite here for a brand new release -- their first ever -- recorded in 1997, two decades after the group first played together. Featuring Michael Doucet of Beausoleil, courtesy of Rhino Records.
