I felt the warmth of my family all around me. Clara, Roy, Woody, George, Papa and Mama. They, too, all sat here in this very theatre many years ago. When the children came marching done the aisle and on the stage I swelled with pride and the tears came. I knew Woody was watching.' --Mary Jo (Guthrie) Edgmon, Woody's sister All of the songs on this album were collectively written by Larry Long and children of Oklahoma (some 60 of whom join Larry in concert), with the exception of Woody's works and Shirley Davis' 'Song of Thanks.' In each Oklahoma town, children gathered oral history from their parents and grandparents. In school they shared their favorite thoughts and memories of home. These songs express the history and hopes of the children of the state. The album was recorded live at the Crystal Theatre in Okema, Oklahoma (the home of Woody Guthrie) on December 1, 1988. It was Okema's first tribute to Woody. Songs include 'Bound for Glory,' 'Talking Fishing Blues,' 'Oklahoma Hills,' 'This Land is Your Land' and recitations excerpted from Guthrie's writings on love, kids, freedom, 'bound for glory' and 'this is our world.'
