24 specially priced digital collections offer concise snapshots of some of the most influential artists in American music.

As another summer gets under way, it's time to have something cool and refreshing on hand; something that will take the edge off without digging too deep into your pocket; something you can grab quickly and enjoy just about anywhere (yes, even behind the wheel). When the temperature goes up, quench your thirst for great music with a digital Six Pack from Concord Music Group's extensive jazz, blues and soul archives.

The Six Pack series includes 24 six-song, artist-specific collections - twelve showcasing legendary jazz performers, six featuring seminal blues figures and six capturing the classic grooves of the Stax heyday. Culled from the various Concord Music Group catalog imprints - including Bluesville, Concord Jazz, Contemporary, Fantasy, Riverside, Prestige, Telarc and Stax - the series spotlights some of the most influential figures in American music of the past several decades.

The roster of artists featured in the Jazz Six Pack series includes Art Pepper ("You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To"), Bill Evans ("Speak Low," "Israel"), Cannonball Adderley ("Groovin' High," "Waltz for Debby"), Chet Baker ("My Funny Valentine"), Eric Dolphy ("Far Cry," "Out There"), John Coltrane ("I Love You," "Straight Street"), Miles Davis ("Solar," "Well, You Needn't"), Sonny Rollins ("In a Sentimental Mood"), Stan Getz ("Ginza Samba" with Cal Tjader, "The Peacocks" with Bill Evans), Thelonious Monk ("Blue Monk"), Vince Guaraldi ("Django," "Linus and Lucy") and Wes Montgomery ("Delilah").

For the blues lover, the Blues Six Pack series showcases Albert King ("Crosscut Saw," "I'll Play the Blues for You"), John Lee Hooker ("Crawlin' King Snake," "Boogie Chillun"), Junior Wells ("Messin' with the Kid," "Sweet Sixteen"), Lightnin' Hopkins ("Good Morning Little School Girl"), Pinetop Perkins ("Pinetop's Boogie Woogie") and Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee ("The Midnight Special").

From the Stax vault, the Soul Six Pack series includes samplers of music by Booker T. & the MGs ("Time Is Tight"), The Dramatics ("Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get"), Isaac Hayes ("Theme from Shaft"), Johnnie Taylor ("Who's Making Love"), Otis Redding ("Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay (take 2)," "Trick or Treat") and The Staple Singers ("I'll Take You There").

"The Six Pack series provides concise, distilled introductions to some legendary artists in three of the most enduring genres in American music," says Nick Phillips, Vice President of Jazz and Catalog A&R at Concord Music Group and producer of the jazz and blues Six Packs. "It's top shelf music at a refreshingly low 'six pack' price."

The Soul Six Packs, whose tracks were hand-picked by producer Chris Clough, Manager of Catalog Development at Concord Music Group, completes the series perfectly, as the classic Stax sound was in many ways a powerful hybrid of the two other genres featured in the series.

"For nearly two decades, musicians from the Stax roster dominated the musical landscape with a brand of music that took the energy of the blues and R&B and nuanced it with some of the more sophisticated elements of jazz," says Clough. "Taken as a whole, the 24 samplers in this series tell the story of American music at the heart of the 20th century - from the Delta juke joints to the post-WWII blues clubs of Chicago to the jazz of New York City and other urban centers to the stylized Memphis soul sound so prominent in the '60s and '70s. More than just a collection of timeless music by great artists, this series tells an important - and still very relevant - story to new generations of listeners."

If you're looking for something cool this summer, grab a Six Pack, specially brewed by the Concord Music Group. Crack open the top and hear some of the greatest music ever made.
