The three artists who make up Le Trio Cadien--D.L. Menard, Eddie LeJeune and Ken Smith--are internationally acclaimed as bona fide Cajun virtuosos because of their brilliant musicianship, but also because they understand the front-porch, Saturday-night heart that still beats at the center of this uniquely American folk music. Guitarist D.L. and accordionist Eddie alternate on vocals on Iry LeJeune's 'J'etais au bal (I Went to the Dance),' D.L.'s 'Elle savit pas J'etais marie (She Didn't Know I Was Married'), and many traditional tunes, with impeccable counterpoint and solos from Ken Smith's fiddle. This album captures all three at the top of their form.
