Jackson had already made a reputation as modern jazz's premier vibist with Dizzy Gillespie, Howard McGhee, Woody Herman, and, for two years, with the Modern Jazz Quartet. Here, Horace Silver, then with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, replaces John Lewis but Percy Heath and Connie Kay, Milt's other MJQ mates, are present. Jackson and Silver were a very funky team, the blues-drenched "Stonewall" being a primary example.

with Horace Silver, Percy Heath, Connie Kay
