His given name is Louis Thomas Hardin. He was born in 1916, grew up amidst native Americans in Wyoming, and began his career as a Manhattan street musician during World War II. By the time he began recording for Prestige in the Fifties, Moondog had developed an underground following that is sustained to this day. This CD combines his second and third Prestige albums, and features his explorations of polyrhythms, drones, and inverted sounds--world music from a world of Moondog’s own.
