When Adam first began playing with Mister Satan on the streets of Harlem, people told him stories: Satan -- under his earlier name -- playing with the Coasters on 'Yakety Yak'; causing George Benson's jaw to drop in amazement at a recording session; wearing white gloves on both spotlit hands as he tore up the stages of St. Petersburg, Florida 25 years earlier. Some of these stories turned out to be true. As did one 'bout him replacing a young guitarist named Jimmy James in Bo Diddley Jr.'s mid-'60s band. Jimmy later changed his name to Jimi and moved to England. King Curtis used to play with Mister Satan; so did Marvin Gaye. According to Mr. Satan, a mojo is a jomo spelled backwards. . . . Adam honestly wouldn't know.' --From the liner notes
