Scott Nygaard is from the Pacific Northwest, and has worked in a ì variety of settings--bluegrass, old-timey, Cajun, western swing, ì acoustic and electric jazz, and more. He's best known as the ì guitarist for Laurie Lewis and Grant Street. The selection of ì tunes on this all-instrumental outing is eclectic but ì focused--the jazz tunes (Frank Loesser's 'Never Will I Marry' and ì some Nygaard originals) swing lightly and convincingly, and the ì traditional tunes ('Bury Me Beneath the Willow,' 'Red Apple Rag,' ì and others) smoothly shift gears into a country mode.
