One of the most spectacular drives in North America is the celebrated Cabot Trail which winds past tidy farms towards the breathtaking vistas of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. And in those same farm houses Gaelic speaking farmers and woodsmen preserved the venerable Scottish fiddle music that their ancestors had brought with them during the great Highland expulsions of the early nineteenth century. On this CD two masters of 'old style' Cape Breton music perform a rich variety of tunes with the same infusion of pride, melancholy and dance 'lift' that has always characterized this remarkable form of traditional music.
