Porter, the bassist for the Meters and a highly-regarded studio musician in the '70s, has been virtually absent from recording for the past ten years, although he's been busy playing live in and around New Orleans. His slick, greasy rhythm lines anchored much of the finest New Orleans R&B of the past 20 years, on sessions with countless artists from Dr. John to Aaron Neville to Lee Dorsey.
