Critics and audiences have long sung the praises of Tish Hinojosa. In at least two languages. An appealing yet eclectic singer/songwriter, Hinojosa has forged a unique and admirable style located somewhere between her Mexican roots, Texas upbringing, and her years as a Nashville tunesmith. Such a broad palette has brought her a wide and appreciative following. A host honors have been bestowed upon her, from an NAIRD award for Independent Folk Album of the Year (for 1992's classic Culture Swing) to an invitation to perform at the Clinton White House. Rave notices have appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, People, and the Los Angeles Times, and she has made appearances on Austin City Limits (twice!), Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, and VH-1. Throughout all of this national attention Hinojosa has remained focused on her music and grass-roots political activism, being particularly involved in causes affecting children, and Latino-Americans. Her first new recording since 1996's Dreaming From the Labyrinth/Sonar del Laberinto, Sign of Truth is quintessential Tish: a true fusion of disparate influences, where identifiable components come together to form something indescribable and fresh. Feisty corrido-style accordion dances alongside twangy steel guitar (courtesy of Texas legend Lloyd Maines), while Hinojosa's illuminating lyrics unravel tales of discovery and redemption. Multi-cultural and multi-layered, Tish's distinct, intoxicating brew is warm, rich, and inviting.
