These recordings, made between 1965 and 1978, make available for ì the first time the music of the remarkable black guitarist and ì singer Lesley Riddle, whose repertoire ranged across much of the ì African-American musical tradition. He directly influenced the ì development of white country music through his friendship with ì the Carter Family, to whom he gave many songs, among them 'The ì Cannon Ball.'
