Hot young guitarist Tony Darren makes his debut release for Telarc with Sun Song along with a dream team of some of today's top names in contemporary jazz. With tracks produced by Grammy Award winner Al Schmitt (producer for George Benson and Steely Dan), the disc features nine original tunes and two inspired covers.

Legendary producer Schmitt assembled an all-star supporting cast that features keyboardist Joe Sample, sax player Tom Scott, drummer Vinnie Colaiuta, percussionist Lenny Castro and bassist John Pena. Combined with Darren’s all-around musical skills, the music had to be good. And it is.

From the quiet intimacy of “Kari” to the Caribbean-influenced festivity of “Carnival,” Tony’s gift for capturing feeling in beautiful melodies is immediate and infectious. While his playing displays a casual tone, Darren’s virtuosity is evident throughout the album.
