Here, in their entirety, are the historic Art Tatum solo piano recordings on Pablo produced by Norman Granz. These 125 selections on six compact discs are a magnificent monument to Tatum’s genius. Four of the tracks capture him in performance at the Hollywood Bowl in August 1956, just a few months before his death at the age of 46; prior to their inclusion in the first edition of this boxed set, they had been unavailable in any format for some 30 years. The remainder of the material, recorded between late 1953 and early 1955, had previously been released as a 13-LP package on Pablo. The package contains a 14-page booklet, with an authoritative essay by Benny Green.
