This album contains the third and fourth volumes in the Songs of Robert Burns series, as researched and arranged by composer Serge Hovey and sung by Jean Redpath, one of Scotland's foremost interpreters of traditional music. It is part of a project that was planned to document the Scottish poet's unique musical contribution of over three hundred songs. Each song has been thoroughly researched for the correct match of lyrics and tune-variant that Burns intended. This edition of the songs commemorates the bicentenary of the death of Robert Burns in 1796.
