Ibiza & Formentera: The Pityusic Islands
In Ibiza's densely wooded hills and the lonely cliff top point of Formentera, Alan Lomax recorded ancient flute and drum melodies and meditative or satirical songs punctuated by archaic glottal trills, leading us into the mysterious island world hidden behind today's glossy veneer of tourism.
The Spanish Recordings
Alan Lomax made these recordings in 1952 and 1953, traveling through Spain during the Franco regime. Covering the breadth of Spanish regional culture, these songs and dance melodies constitute a portrait of the country's varied musical life.
The Alan Lomax Collection
The Alan Lomax Collection is an assemblage of international field recordings that anthologizes the work of folklorist Alan Lomax.
