Welcome to West Texas is the latest installment in the saga of Alan Munde and Joe Carr -- the Pickin' Professors from South Plains College in Levelland, Texas. Munde has been a stalwart of the bluegrass banjo world from his days with bluegrass legend Jimmy Martin through his 20+ years as a founding member of the influential Country Gazette. Carr brought his unique guitar, mandolin and vocal talents to the Gazette during the late 1970s, a period that produced two Gazette albums and several of Alan's classic instrumental banjo albums. This album presents Alan and Joe at their eclectic best: traditional and ground breaking, familiar and surprising, serious and funny. The road Joe and Al take us down is not on any map, but it is a delightful musical adventure.
