The three unifying factors here are the soprano and alto saxophonist (and sometime vocalist) Norwood "Pony" Poindexter (1926-1988), the wailing Texas tenor saxist Booker Ervin (1930-1970), and copious, previously unreleased 1963 material featuring both.
