Camille Howard
Texas-born, Southern California-based pianist Camille Howard had been recording a year and a half as a member of Roy Milton's Solid Senders for Art Rupe's Juke Box and Specialty labels when her torchy vocal rendition of "Thrill Me" with Milton's proto-R&B band shot to number 5 on Billboard's "race" records chart in 1947.
