The Starlights are virtually unknown outside of Jamaica, but they were influential hit-makers on the island from 1973 to 1979. Lead singer Stanley Beckford's high, penetrating voice is backed by a reggae/calypso combination that was known as 'country music' in `70s Jamaica.
