In 1945, Teddy Edwards switched from alto to tenor saxophone to join trumpeter Howard McGhee's quintet and begin a two-year association that resulted in classic bebop recordings on the old Aladdin, Dial, Melodisc, and Modern Music labels. McGhee went on to other pursuits, and Edwards stayed in Los Angeles to become one of the most respected tenor men on the West Coast.
