VOICES Notes and news on Digital releases
18 JUN 09 DAVID VIENNA
A little while ago, Concord Music Group launched a new feature on this site which allows you to purchase CDs, LPs, MP3s and other goodies with just a few clicks. Now, ConcordMusicGroup.com introduces the Digital Only section, devoted to out-of-print or exclusive tracks and titles only available in digital form.
The list of out-of-print titles that are available digitally is truly staggering, especially for jazz fans. Long lost releases from renowned musicians like Chet Baker (Out Of Nowhere, Witch Doctor), Art Blakey (Kyoto), Jack McDuff (Silken Soul) and Gene Ammons (A Stranger In Town, Preachin', Up Tight!), as well as great titles from artists in other genres like jazz vocalist Mel Tormé (Sing, Sing, Sing) and country blues pioneer Smokey Hogg (Angels In Harlem).
Click on "See All" in the Out Of Print section to see the full list of out-of-print titles now available digitally. Check back often or make requests. Concord will be adding more.
Among the exclusive releases is the Digital Six Pack series, 6-song collections from seminal artists in Jazz, Blues and Soul. In the Jazz selections, you'll find legendary musicians such as John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Art Pepper and Sonny Rollins. The Blues Six Packs include Albert King, John Lee Hooker and Lightnin' Hopkins. And the Soul collections boast Booker T. & The MGs, Isaac Hayes and Otis Redding. And that's juts a few of the great offerings in the series.
Chris Clough, Manager of Catalog Development at Concord Music Group said of the Six Packs, "Taken as a whole, the 24 samplers in this series tell the story of American music at the heart of the 20th Century."
Click around the new Digital Only section and don't forget to keep coming back for more exclusives and out-of-print titles.
