What A Rush

31 JUL 10 DAVID VIENNA

A little while ago, I wrote about legendary Rounder Records joining the Concord Music Group family. Now, the good part happens — the part where I get to write about Rounder releases and artists. So, to kick it all off, I have just one word for you: Rush. The power trio has been doing nothing but getting better since its inception 40 years ago. Discover the band's amazing story on the new documentary Beyond The Lighted Stage.

While many might consider Rush a mere cult band, they are ranked number three on the list of acts with the most consecutive gold and platinum studio albums, just behind The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Not bad company. Beyond The Lighted Stage, available on DVD and Blu-Ray, explores how a band so overlooked by critics and historians could achieve Rush's longevity and rabid fan base.

The documentary features never-before-seen archival footage of the band as well as interviews with rock heavyweights such as Gene Simmons (KISS), Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Vinnie Paul (Pantera) and Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails). It offers a look back at Rush's early days, including the formation of the lineup, and chronicles the members' unstoppable rise to one of the most influential rock bands of all time.

Rush, still going strong, is on tour now. Go see what all the fuss is about.
