Hooray! Bluegrass quintet Della Mae, whose Rounder debut This World Oft Can Be was released in May, has been named the Best Emerging Artist of 2013 by the International Bluegrass Music Association at their annual awards show, which took place Sept. 26 in Raleigh, NC.
The group has been praised for their "outstanding musicianship and beautiful harmonies," (Bluegrass Today), and hailed as "fleet fingered" (Nashville Scene) and "incredibly charming" (Independent Weekly). Popmatters proclaimed the album "the rarest kind of success," noting that "the past grounds it, sure, but so too does the present, and the result illuminates both."
