Stretch Records

(Est. 1997) Founded by the legendary pianist/composer/producer Chick Corea and music industry veteran Ron Moss, Stretch Records has become known for its presentation of "music with no boundaries." Under the artistic direction of Chick, and marketed and distributed exclusively by Concord Records, the Stretch Records catalog boasts innovative, creative music by such jazz luminaries as Bob Berg, Avishai Cohen, Eddie Gomez, John Patitucci, Bud Powell (Stretch Archives), Wallace Roney, and Dave Weckl, among others. The first Stretch title, John Patitucci's Heart of the Bass, was released in 1992 (distributed by MCA). Stretch joined Concord in February 1997.

It is perhaps Avishai's enduring love of his family and his land that ties all the varying musical components into one cohesive unit. His father, Gershon, is from an Ashkenaz family and his mother, Ora, descends from Sephardic settlers who emigrated to Palestine from Greece and Turkey at the turn of the century.
