10 JUN 13 DAVID VIENNA
Navigating your way through the massive world of jazz music can seem a little daunting. But, Stylus is here to help. The music app, which was designed by Concord Music Group in conjunction with JazzTimes specifically for use with Spotify, helps you explore essential classic and contemporary jazz from a database of more than 1,200 titles.
Stylus offers an easy-to-use interface that pairs with Spotify's functionality to learn about each listener's personal taste. The app explores and suggests music based on that criteria, including track info, artist bios and cover art. Best of all, suggestions are made without regard to label affiliation. And since jazz never stops evolving, the app also gives you suggestions curated by JazzTimes so you can keep up on what's noteworthy in the jazz world.
Available for both free and premium accounts, Stylus can be found via Spotify's app tab. So, get Stylus today and start discovering the best jazz in the world. Check out the video to learn more.
Hunter's Amazing Minute
26 FEB 13 DAVID VIENNA
Allmusic.com posted a review of The James Hunter Six's new Fantasy release Minute By Minute. From the post: "This is inarguably his finest album."
The review also highlights one of the album's main strengths: "The 'Britishness' in his take on American soul and R&B. Hunter knows it's impossible to emulate his idols, but he can -- and does -- reveal how much their influence means to him as a modern musician. His voice here is more weathered but also far more expressive; he takes chances with it he hasn't before."
Check out other releases from James Hunter and catch him on tour.
Concord Wins Most 2013 Grammys
11 FEB 13 DAVID VIENNA
Rather than craft a post patting ourselves on the back for our Grammy wins, we'll let Billboard do that: "Concord Records artists scored the most Grammy Awards, picking up eight... Concord winners -- either on its label or distributed labels -- included Paul McCartney's Kisses On The Bottom (Hear Music) for best pop vocal album; Gary Burton and Chick Corea's Hot House, whose title track won best improvised jazz solo and 'Mozart Goes Dancing' took home best instrumental composition; and Esperanza Spalding's Radio Music Society (Heads Up International), which won best vocal jazz album."
Other winners include: Arturo Sandoval's Dear Diz (Best Jazz Ensemble Album); Steep Canyon Rangers' Nobody Knows You (Best Bluegrass Album); and Billy Vera's work on Singular Genius: The Complete ABC Singles (Best Album Notes). Check out the entire list of winners. And big congrats to the artists and all the staffers at Concord.
